How to navigate the EPC minefield

Maples Teesdale and MEES Solutions co-sponsored an event held by BE News and ING Media on “How to navigate the EPC minefield.”

In April 2023, new MEES regulations came into force that made it unlawful to let a commercial property with an energy performance certificate, or EPC, of less than E. However, the government offered no further guidance and at the Conservative Party Conference, it scrapped plans to require residential rental properties to have an EPC rating of at least C by 2028. So, what exactly are its intentions relating to EPCs? What might happen under Labour? And how should landlords – commercial and residential – prepare? These were the big questions we debated during this important event as we attempt to navigate the EPC minefield.
