International Women’s Day is celebrated yearly on 8 March to mark the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women around the world. Most importantly, the day calls for a gender equal world which is free of bias, stereotypes, and discrimination.
For the second year now, we will be collecting donations for a local charity called Smart Works.
The charity takes in high-quality, interview appropriate clothing which is then given to less fortunate women to attend job interviews. Once they get a job, the charity then gives them a capsule wardrobe to wear until they can support themselves. The charity’s initiative is for women to feel confident and empowered.
We will be accepting all donations: clothing, accessories, shoes, handbags, etc, but our rule is if you wouldn’t wear it yourself to an interview, don’t donate it!
If you do not have any women’s clothes, the charity also accepts cash donations which will be used to purchase items for the capsule wardrobes. Please see the link: https://smartworks.org.uk/support-us/make-a-donation/donate-money/
We look forward to receiving your donations and don’t forget to continuously celebrate all the important women in your life 😊!
