Time Out Market is reportedly in discussions with the Crown Estate about opening a Time Out Market at 10 Piccadilly and 55 Regent Street, and an application for change of use has been submitted to Westminster Council, to change the use category from retail to food hall.
This is an exciting development for the Time Out Group, which has been trying to secure a site in London since 2016. They first planned to operate from a Grade II listed building near Spitalfields, but their application was rejected by Tower Hamlets. The group later exchanged an agreement for lease for a site in Waterloo, but the deal fell through because of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Other sites include New York, Dubai, Cape Town, Lisbon and Barcelona and further sites are being opened in Osaka, Budapest and Prague.
Assuming the third time is the charm, the site in Mayfair will be Time Out Market's first location in London and a welcome addition to its food market scene. Having visited the markets in New York and Dubai, I am excited to see if the deal will go ahead.
