Raising money for Send a Cow
Maples Teesdale took part in Wrenbridge’s annual World Cup Football Day in Linton, Cambridgeshire in the early hours on the 9th August to help raise money for Send a Cow.
Send a cow is a a non profit organisation set to end hunger, achieve food security and improve nutrition and promote sustainable agriculture; by providing livestock and bringing communities together on common goals to support the national drive to reconciliation, in rural Africa.
The tournament generated enough donations to send eight cows to Rwanda, where they will be given to poverty stricken families/communities - they are then reared to provide milk for food and promote agricultural enhancement. This also mirrors Rwanda’s culture of girinka, in which dairy cows are given as a sign of gratitude or respect.
The program has reported to have reduced poverty and malnutrition among 350,000 households. Thank you to everyone who donated to this cause and congrats to the team who took part in the tournament!
