The Environment Bill is being delayed yet again - such that it will have taken over 2 years from first being introduced in Parliament to receiving the Royal Assent. How it must envy the European Union (Future Relationship) Act 2020 which skipped through Parliament in a matter of days at the end of 2020. Yes, of course, the Government has been bogged down with Covid-19 but the timing of this bill might suggest where the environment ranks in the Government's priorities. What hope, therefore, is there for the swift passage of a potentially far more controversial Planning Act, giving effect to the proposals contained in last year's White Paper.
