Conservation Covenants update

Further to the consultation on Conservation Covenants, the Government now look set to introduce these through the Environment Bill, published on 15 October.

Conservation Covenants are voluntary agreements between a landowner and a conservation organisation or council to do, or not do, something on their land. This will bind not just the current, but also future landowners, therefore securing environmental and heritage benefits for future generations.

See my article below for further information.

On 22 February 2019, the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) published a consultation on a new statutory scheme for conservation covenants.
