Whilst the headline talks of green belt allocations being slashed, perhaps more significant is the acceptance that 50% of the allocated Greater Manchester green belt sites remain in the draft plan.
Despite official Government policy remaining that "Green Belt boundaries should only be altered where exceptional circumstances are fully evidenced and justified" it is increasingly becoming the norm for local authorities to alter GB boundaries as part of their local plan review processes in order to provide land for much needed housing accommodation.
Isn't it time for some honesty to creep into national policy and for this reality to be recognised?
