All too often planning objections can seem petty and nitpicking, with every conceivable angle of a scheme being criticised. So seeing that Canary Wharf Group had objected to British Land's mammoth regeneration scheme for Canada Water made me wonder how long the list of grievances was going to be. It was interesting to see that in reality the objections centre on the obvious and important consideration of the transport impact of the development and the extent of any mitigation measures. Indeed, just to prove how adult both parties are they have even issued a joint statement emphasising the importance of additional tranport links for East London. A lesson for others who might be considering objecting to a planning proposal: focus on the real issues.
