An interesting piece of research from JLL on place making with emphasis on retail centres. Shopping centre owners are becoming more aware of the need to placemake in shopping centres. For example creating more experiences around the retail offering, such as market events, new attractions, talks, art exhibitions, even fitness classes. The aim to create vibrant and dynamic space that people come back to again and again, and stay longer in.
Interesting points too about collaboration between tenants and landlords, for example M&S is partnering with ten local communities across the country to focus on specific local community issues such as skill shortages, loneliness and mental health issues.
