Thomas Cook's £150m hotel development fund

An interesting move by Thomas Cook to help ensure that it retains all the money it earns from selling hotel holidays.

If this approach catches on might we see a new version of the hit TV series 'Auf Wiedersehen, Pet' being commissioned? Presumably, 'Adios, Pet'.

Thomas Cook, which is set to announce the fund on Wednesday, has been actively trying to expand the number of hotels it owns because this means it retains all of the proceeds from guest bookings, rather than giving away margin when holidaymakers stay in a hotel owned by a third party. The fund’s first project will be the first Casa Cook in Spain, which will be located on the Balearic island of Ibiza and open next summer
