This is an absolutely fascinating analysis of the development in urban planning written by Nick Routley on the Visual Capitalist website.  His commentary on the next stage in evolution with smart city design is interesting, but those of us based in the UK will also smile at the idea that Ebenezer Howard's garden city principles are still alive and kicking and pertinent a century down the line.
