A lifeline for co-working tenants: £617m Government funding promised to small businesses

After previously not qualifying for Government grants announced in March, small businesses operating from co-working spaces finally have access to Government financial aid.

The March financial support package for small businesses was based on one metric, the rateable value of the business premises they occupied. Small businesses in shared offices do not have a rateable value for their co-working space, meaning, previously they could not benefit from Government grants. This support has been plugged – providing a much needed lifeline for small businesses during the COVID-19 pandemic.
